Job Title: VP, Digital Activation, Media

Role Overview:

The VP of Digital Activation plays a crucial leadership role in translating high-level digital strategy into executional excellence across digital media channels—while staying compliant with the highly regulated pharmaceutical landscape. They will oversee the planning, execution, optimization, and performance of all digital media campaigns for pharmaceutical clients. They will build out and lead a team that manages programmatic, paid social and search, which is an essential step towards M+A being able to fully manage omnichannel activation.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Activation Leadership

  • Bridge the gap between digital strategy and in-market execution
  • Lead the activation of omnichannel campaigns across platforms
  • Translate brand and business goals into actionable media plans and digital buys

Team & Vendor Management

  • Oversee a team of SMEs and activation specialists who will manage the digital media in market
  • Manage relationships with media vendors, audience targeting partners and tech platforms
  • Ensure best-in-class activation processes, QA, and governance

Compliance & Regulatory Alignment

  • Ensure all digital media buys adhere to client and industry compliance requirements
  • Partner closely with compliance teams to implement guardrails for pharma-specific issues like adverse event monitoring, black box warning visibility, etc

Performance & Optimization

  • Drive continuous optimization using KPIs aligned with brand goals and partner with insights team on measurement and reporting
  • Leverage data and insights to improve ROI and conversion through the patient or HCP journey

Innovation & Platform Expertise

  • Stay ahead of digital trends and emerging platforms that will drive evolution of activation
  • Introduce new targeting, measurement, or creative formats within the regulatory constraints of pharma

Team Leadership & Process Optimization

  • Hire, train, mentor and retain digital activation specialists
  • Build a cohesive team that manages cross channel digital activation for clients
  • Create and implement SOPs for campaign activation
  • Troubleshoot complex trafficking or delivery issues with vendors, publishers, or media teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Media, Business, or related field
  • 10+ years of digital media experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale digital campaigns
  • Deep expertise in digital media buying and activation, especially across programmatic, social, search, and video
  • Proven track record of leading high-performance teams and cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
